Society of Payment Security Professionals
April 10th, 2008 Posted in PCI DSSToday, The Aegenis Group publicly launched the Society of Payment Security Professionals website. Many people have already signed up and slowly we will migrate all our PCI content into this portal. Over time you will see a movement of knowledge and users from other areas into the SPSP site. (Check out the press release.)
The Society of Payment Security Professionals’ objective is to provide individuals and organizations involved in payment security with an online community to share information, and access education and certification opportunities. Society members come from a variety of businesses including card brands, merchants, acquirers, ISOs, and more. Though their organizations may vary, they all share one purpose: to protect payment card data, and other sensitive data using the most current, viable technologies and processes.  The SPSP is managed by The Aegenis Group, Inc.
I’m a member and you should be too. In addition to bringing more information to the payments space, we will also maintain a blogroll of blogs relevant to PCI. We are doing a mashup where we provide you one RSS stream of all the relevant PCI blogs. If you think yours should be included then register for on the SPSP site and let us know. This is your opportunity to broadcast yourself!
The first 150 people that register for individual membership will have their first years’ membership fee waived.

Why would I want to sign up with a “security” organization that allows my information pass to them via clear text? When they show some rudimentary understanding of protecting personal information, I might reconsider.
