PCI Blog - Compliance Demystified

The Society of Payment Security Professionals (SPSP) has been offering the Certified Payment Card-Industry Security Manager (CPISM) certification since May 25th, 2008.  In the first 3.5 months, the Society has certified over 100 new CPISMs.  Newly certified CPISMS include Qualified Security Assessors, Level 1-4 Merchants, Issuing Banks, Acquiring Banks, ISOs, Gateways and Big-4 auditing firms.  The Society now has over 450 members with approximately 6 new people per week joining.

Based upon feedback from participants, it looks like the CPISM is well needed, and worthwhile.  We have had several attendees write back to the Society telling us how they use the material every day.  In several instances, the training has allowed the participants to save significant amounts of money when they discovered their PCI DSS assessment as been scoped incorrectly.
