PCI SSC to Accept Comments on Current Version of PCI DSS

June 26th, 2009 by hmark Posted in PCI DSS

The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) is inviting its Participating Organizations to provide “detailed and actionable” feedback about the PCI DSS. The move comes amid criticism from various sectors regarding the evolution of the Standard, but does demonstrate that the Council is trying to take positive steps to incorporate the experiences and observations of those that are obligated to comply.  According to reports, the PCI SSC will provide an electronic form to members on July 1, 2009. The feedback garnered from the forms, along with that gained from two community meetings scheduled for this year, will be referred to the PCI SSC Technical Working Group. The TWG will make the final decisions as to what feedback will be incorporated into the new versions of the PCI DSS and the PA DSS. According to SC Magazine, the feedback “may be incorporated” into the new versions of the Standards.
